Iowa Events Center – Des Moines, Iowa

The Hy-Vee Hall at the Iowa Event Center was suffering from bad reverberation. 4TEC Integration’s acoustical team was sent in to test the rooms and design the best solution to counteract this problem. The acoustical team determined that an application of K-13 acoustical spray would work best for this application and budget. Working with a tightly managed deadline, 4TEC Integration was able to compete the job on time and within budget constraints.

Qwest Center Omaha – Omaha, Nebraska

The Qwest Center Omaha was developed in Omaha to offer a variety of services for local entertainment. The Arena, Ballrooms, and the Convention Halls were combined to offer the perfect mix of styles for most anyone’s needs from conventions and trade shows to mainliner acts. After several years of work the building has produced some of the best convention space results in the industry and has delivered exciting entertainment to millions of people.

One area that was getting some bad publicity was the convention space. Any event that needed to have audio for speech, concert or playback was disappointed due to the reverberation level in the space caused the audio signals to be blurred and hard to understand. 4TEC Integration contacted Ms. Howard of the Qwest Center MECA office and discussed the issues in detail. After the meeting 4TEC devised a plan to go into the convention space and test the sound intelligibility and reverberation to quantify the level of treatment needed to provide a usable environment. The obvious choice in the Convention space, where the walls can only be treated to a 20ft. height minimum and the floor absolutely cannot be treated due to the heavy equipment shows and such, was to use K-13 spray on cellulose.

The K-13 product was utilized for several reasons as follows:

Odorless so adjacent rooms and the Arena could be in use without interruption Strong adhesion and durable finish for roof application
Effective sound control with the top rating in the industry per inch of material
Efficient insulating product with the top rating per inch in R value of material
Ecologically safe bio-degradable renewable resource which is 50% recycled goods
Environmentally aesthetic product which creates a acoustically soft enjoyable space for conversations and presentations
Quick installation and dry time from start to finish so scheduled revenues from the convention space rents would be maximized
Properly certified to meet all of the local building codes and fire codes
Available in many colors to match the interior ceiling and upper walls which were Black (available in light gray, light tan, black, white, brown)
Mold resistant material which would maintain it’s integrity if a leak would occur and not retain the water causing a mold hazard in the building
The product is very easy to clean up as it is water based and can easily be removed during spraying and touched up by painting the surfaces if any over spray or drift due to air flow in building should occur

The project was scheduled for the slowest month of business and performed without any major issues. Upon completion the space was repainted to touch up the over spray and drift and returned back to service within a day of completion. 4TEC Integration attended a Product show two weeks after the spray was installed which entailed a booth in the center of the convention space. When talking to clients at the show many complemented the change the K-13 treatment offered to the space and explained that this was the first time they were able to understand the announcements over the PA system. The booths with heavy equipment running and people talking throughout the space was very quiet and had a soft reverberation that was very low level in comparison to the before conditions. The project was a complete success. 4TEC has recently separated the acoustical services and added insulation services to develop a separate company named “E4 Acoustical treatment and Insulation”.

St. Joseph Remington Nature Center – St. Joseph, Missouri

The Parks and Recreation division of St. Joe Missouri had an idea for an interactive history display for the city of St. Joseph, Missouri’s nature center. Unsure how to proceed, the design group of 4TEC Integration was brought in to help oversee and design the project. 4TEC Integration’s team of experts worked closely with the parks department in designing a fully automated and centralized control system for the history display. 4TEC’s Partner company, Studio 44 Productions, was brought on to produce the audio and video work for all the sounds and visuals needed in this project. The main highlight of the project was the Hologram Theater that brought the ghosts of St. Joe’s past to life, with the ghosts seemingly floating in midair. Another highlight of the design was a train system that brought light, sound and smoke to help ignite the image of a train pulling into town.

Grand Biloxi – Biloxi, Mississippi

The Grand Biloxi Casino brought a unique set of issues to the table when discussing their current sign technology and the Cashier Cage operation of the existing manual signs. The pre-existing signs at the Cashier Cage were manual turn signs and were at the height where the counter attendants had to exit the cashier cage to change the status of each counter throughout the day. The additional burden of this function was due to security policies which mandated a security escort for anyone entering or exiting the cage. Ultimately the Surveillance management presented the cashier management concerns with the amount of risk and exposure they were observing via the CCTV system’s view of the process. Security relayed the same concerns as surveillance and experienced staffing issues during busy times of the day when they were asked to escort sign changes at the cashier cage. The staffing issue in security eventually caused a lacking result in customer service quality at the cashier during peak times of business, due to the delay in opening windows for customers while waiting on security to respond for the changes.

After hearing the issues 4TEC started to develop a solution. 4TEC was called on to redesign the stationary signs and deploy an integrated digital signage control system that could be accessible inside the cage. 4TEC implemented a sign system with a custom PC control station that allowed authorized users to update the new LED signs instantly from within the security of the cage. The system was also deployed into the Total Rewards Counter and later into a new remote High Denom Cashier Cage which shared control from the main cage.

Harrah’s Casino – Council Bluffs, Iowa

Harrah’s Entertainment came to 4TEC with a request for a project that required a short turnaround time and would need a lot of equipment to communicate seamlessly with each other. With only 14 days to design and build, 4TEC accepted the challenge. They designed a single media/control PC/server that integrated controls for all of the deployed systems.

The system scope included the following items:

Visualizations on LCD panels and projection screens synchronized to music.
Dance lighting system synchronized to music.
Custom Gobo lighting signage system choreographed to music.
LED color changing effects lighting system under tables in chandelier and in custom etched logo card shoes with synchronized controls.
Sports via Cox cable and DirecTV feeds.
DVD playback.
MP3 music/mic mixing via PC console.
DJ style sound system.
Time-line: design, order, deliver, build/install, program and Turn over with training 21 days. (14 days was the actual time-line after the acceptance of the contract)
The PC built for this task included internal audio and video mixing, DJ automated mixing console with a hardware DJ slider control, time displays, visualization with sync, and built in lighting controls.

The system was programmed to completely run the show with a single selection of music choice and a selection of lighting display programs. The Show utilizes effects lighting for lively coloration of surrounding areas, ceiling areas and draws special attention to the branding logo on the card shoe prominently located on each card table. The sound and video present the atmosphere of a club experience in a Casino table gaming environment. When indulged in the surrounding ambience the real show begins as the custom gobo program starts with the Stir Party Pit logo dancing from table to table and from wall to wall changing color and design in time with the music. When a patron wins a game, the table is highlighted with the brightly lit Stir party pit logo on the table and announced via wireless mic headsets.

From design to finish the system exceeded everyone’s expectations and was delivered on-time.

Horseshoe Casino – Council Bluffs, Iowa

4TEC Integration was selected out of many national vendors to provide a wide range of audio and video systems to Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc.’s largest gambling property (outside of Las Vegas). The Horseshoe Casino’s build team in conjunction with 4TEC Integration designed and deployed the systems into many specialty areas where attention to detail was a must. The project’s uniqueness comes in the fact that the marketing team constantly revised the plans to optimize the final experience for the customer.

The project started out with just a background music system. However, as the owner and general contractor soon realized. 4TEC’s dedication to success and broad range of skills proved that they could handle any project that was handed to them and as such many more contracts were awarded. In working with the Horseshoe team, 4TEC delivered all of the changes and on time without a change in schedule.
All of the systems installed at the Horseshoe Casino, from the digital led signs to the video and live venue have computerized control systems. Many of these systems can also be controlled via internet at their neighboring campuses or around the world. The latest in state of the art technology in commercial designed systems is the heart of 4TEC’s technology.
